Established in 2003, the Yoruba Oduduwa Community held its inaugural meeting with a modest gathering of 15 dedicated members. The primary aim was to cultivate unity among Yoruba citizens and to serve as exemplary ambassadors in the Republic of South Africa.
At the helm of the organisation during its formative years were Mr. Andrew Olafisoye (Chairman), Pastor Ola-Judah (Deputy Chairperson), Mr. Siji Olorunsola (General Secretary), and Mrs. Esther Babatunde (Financial Secretary). Prominent figures who shaped the early days included the Late Hon. Debo Shodeke, Prophet Richard Jolaosho, Alhaji Teddy Ishola, Otunba Bola Idebi, and many other esteemed members.
In its commitment to serving its members, the Yoruba Oduduwa Community actively addressed various needs, providing support with travel arrangements, accommodation challenges, employment opportunities, and business establishment for many.
A significant milestone occurred on January 28, 2008, when Hon. Siji Olorunsola, then serving as Chairman, received a letter from the Nigerian consulate inviting the Yoruba community to form the Nigerian Union — an initiative that established a collective body representing Nigerians in South Africa.
The community's commitment was further evidenced through its contribution to the formation of NAYDSA, where Aare Bodunrin John-Odus was elected as National Vice President.
The chapter bounced back in late 2024 when the elders came up to revive it with a call for unity and love.
One of the founding chapters of NAYDSA.
